Drums
- I play Gretsch drums with the following specification:-
- 13″ x 9″ & 16″ x 16″ Toms, 20″ x 14″ Bass Drum, 14″ x 6½” Snare Drum
The photo showing me playing is on drums I used for many years but which have now been moved on. The current drums (other photos) are in Natural Maple Finish and in the above sizes. The kit is about 35 years old and was originally finished in a blue glitter wrap (shown in one of the photos on the photo page), it eventually, after years of hard use, got to look a bit sad so the wrap was stripped off and the natural maple restored to something like a pristine, as-new finish. All the heads are natural ‘calf’ heads by Earthtone, USA. I just prefer the ‘warmer’ sound and feel that calf heads provide.
I also have a second Gretsch kit, 20 x 14, 12 x 8, 14 x 12 and 14 x 5 snare drum, finished in classic Champagne Sparkle finish. The drums also have Earthtone calf heads.
Cymbals
- 2×14″, 16″, 18″, 20″, 22″ original Turkish ‘K’ Zildjians.
- 22″ Avedis Zildjian ‘Swish’ (China Type).
- I use Vater ‘Manhattan’ Sticks and Regal-tip Brushes.
